Fontana della Memoria
Conceived by Romagnol poet and screenwriter Tonino Guerra, it recreates the shape of a large marine fossil overlooking Piazza San Rocco.
The Fontana della Memoria stands in Piazza San Rocco, in the territory of Poggio Berni. Designed by Romagnol poet and screenwriter Tonino Guerra, it recreates the shape of a large marine fossil. Raised above ground level, it has a circular form, with water flowing through the spiral to reach the centre. It was made in 1999, using hand-carved stone from the Montefeltro.
Good to know
- Traces of Tonino Guerra's genius can be found throughout the Valmarecchia, especially in Poggio Torriana ("Il Marecchia è l'albero dell'acqua") and in Pennabilli, home to "Il Mondo di Tonino" and "I luoghi dell'anima", a diffuse museum spread across several sites between the historic centre and the countryside.
