Processo a Villa Torlonia is a sui generis cultural event based on the re-enactment of a historical episode, which changes every year. An event of significance to Romagna is chosen, and two prominent lawyers are appointed: one for the prosecution, the other for the defence. As in a real courtroom, arguments are debated, positions are argued, evidence is presented and, finally, the audience acts as the jury and delivers the verdict.

Good to know

  • Entry to the event is free and it is held in August at Villa Torlonia.
  • The episodes debated vary widely: subjects have included the murder of Giovanni Pascoli's father, the alleged chauvinism of the Vitelloni in Federico Fellini's film, and whether the legacy of Pellegrino Artusi and his 19th-century manual on home cooking still held up today.

Conformance status

The site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. Conformance is partial: the checks made so far cover the code and the colours, and they do not replace testing with people who rely on assistive technology. Known limits are listed below.

How this statement was prepared

Self-assessment by the people who build the site, last updated on 1 September 2026. This is not the statement that the Italian AgID guidelines require of public bodies, which Romagna.net is not: it is a commitment we make anyway.
