Le Fornaci Romane
During excavations for the construction of the Canale Emiliano Romagnolo, next to Villa Torlonia, the remains of several Roman kilns came to light. These were large installations believed to have been used to make bricks; the excavations uncovered both a lower section where the fire was fed and an upper section where the bricks were arranged for firing.
