Museums

Museo della Regina

The museum brings together finds from the Bronze Age and the Roman period, alongside a section devoted to seafaring, where numerous historic boats are on display.

On the first floor, the museum houses the Archaeology Section, with finds dating from the Bronze Age and the Roman period, evidence of Cattolica's importance to Rome. The second floor is devoted to seafaring, displaying numerous model boats, also linked to different historical periods.

Good to know

  • The Museo della Regina is housed in the former Ospedale dei Pellegrini (1584), which comprised a men's dormitory, a women's dormitory, an inn and a kitchen.
  • The Museo della Regina was set up in 1997 thanks to “Fondi Giubileo” funding.
  • Between 2004 and 2010, a series of archaeological discoveries in the Cattolica area demonstrated the existence of a Roman settlement. Cattolica lies along the Via Flaminia.
