Coriano
Coriano is a quiet town in the Valconca, marked by valleys planted with olives and vines. It is made up of seven hamlets (Cerasolo, Ospedaletto, Passano, Mulazzano, Sant’Andrea in Besanigo, Cavallino, MonteTauro), each of which keeps the remains of a Malatesta castle.
Coriano is an interesting cultural centre: it is home to the Cor.Te theatre, whose programme ranges from contemporary to dialect theatre, and to several museums. During the Second World War, in September 1944, Coriano was the stage of the battle for the breakthrough of the Gothic Line by the British army, for the liberation of Rimini and Romagna. The British war cemetery here holds 1,940 fallen soldiers.
