Parco della Resistenza

In the Parco della Resistenza, visitors can admire a small lake with several species of swans, fish and ducks, statues dedicated to Primo Carnera and to the survivors of the Nazi camps, and a library.

A neat, symmetrical public garden in Forlì, the Parco della Resistenza has wide avenues that, in the 19th century, were wide enough for carriages to pass through.
Over time the park has changed shape; the most significant work dates back to 1928, when improvements were made to rainwater drainage and the pedestrian path was separated from the carriage route. Today, in the Parco della Resistenza, visitors can admire a small lake with several species of swans, fish and ducks, statues dedicated to Primo Carnera and to the survivors of the Nazi camps, and a library.

Good to know

  • The Parco della Resistenza was built to honour Pope Pius VII, in gratitude from the people of Forlì.
  • In the early 1800s, the public park represented a new kind of urban space that was spreading across Europe. The most admired model of garden was the English style.
  • A free bicycle hire service operates at the entrance to Piazzale Vittoria.

How this statement was prepared

Self-assessment by the people who build the site, last updated on 1 September 2026. This is not the statement that the Italian AgID guidelines require of public bodies, which Romagna.net is not: it is a commitment we make anyway.
