Affreschi di San Rocco

The Affreschi di San Rocco are inside the Oratorio di San Rocco, the oldest church in Gatteo. This is a cycle of votive paintings created between the 15th and 16th centuries, linked to the plague outbreaks of the 15th century. The frescoes depict San Rocco (according to popular tradition, the Saint defeated the plague), San Sebastiano, the Crucifixion, the Madonna and Child, Santa Lucia, Santa Caterina and many others. In particular, the fresco of San Rocco shows the man pointing with his hand to his thigh, marked with clear signs of the disease.

How this statement was prepared

Self-assessment by the people who build the site, last updated on 1 September 2026. This is not the statement that the Italian AgID guidelines require of public bodies, which Romagna.net is not: it is a commitment we make anyway.
