Places to see

Eremo della Madonna di Saiano

A place of silence: a church and a cylindrical tower, overlooked by the boundary wall that opens onto the panorama of the Valmarecchia.

The Eremo della Madonna di Saiano stands on a rocky outcrop of the Valmarecchia, on the left bank of the river of the same name, between Verucchio and Montebello (known for the Castello di Azzurrina).
The religious complex consists of the church and the cylindrical tower, surrounded by a boundary wall that opens onto a panorama of the whole valley, as far as San Marino. The church is dedicated to the Madonna del Monte Carmelo, whose statue is kept here; the site is particularly quiet, suited to those seeking peace and closeness to nature.

Good to know

  • A pagan temple dedicated to Janus, the two-faced god of beginnings, once stood on this site.
  • Since the 1300s, worshippers have made pilgrimages here to receive the grace of motherhood and ward off drought.
  • It is a stop on the Valmarecchia cycling route, which starts from Rimini and passes through Ponte Verucchio, Saiano and Montebello.

Conformance status

The site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. Conformance is partial: the checks made so far cover the code and the colours, and they do not replace testing with people who rely on assistive technology. Known limits are listed below.

How this statement was prepared

Self-assessment by the people who build the site, last updated on 1 September 2026. This is not the statement that the Italian AgID guidelines require of public bodies, which Romagna.net is not: it is a commitment we make anyway.
