The Museo Nazionale in Ravenna was founded in the 18th century, following Napoleonic suppression, from pieces sought out and chosen by the city's monks. Today it houses important archaeological finds, chiefly from the 5th and 6th centuries: decorated sarcophagi, marble capitals and other items from the early Christian and Byzantine periods. The collection is further enriched by a collection of ivories, a group of icons, a series of small Renaissance bronzes, a collection of ancient weapons and a cycle of frescoes by Pietro da Rimini, one of the leading exponents of the 14th-century Rimini school of painting. It is housed within the San Vitale museum complex.

Accessibility statement

Romagna.net should be usable by anyone, with any tool: keyboard, screen reader, magnification, phone. This page says where we actually stand, without rounding up.

Conformance status

The site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. Conformance is partial: the checks made so far cover the code and the colours, and they do not replace testing with people who rely on assistive technology. Known limits are listed below.

How this statement was prepared

Self-assessment by the people who build the site, last updated on 1 September 2026. This is not the statement that the Italian AgID guidelines require of public bodies, which Romagna.net is not: it is a commitment we make anyway.
