Castello degli Agolanti

The Castello degli Agolanti in Riccione is a fourteenth-century building, built at the behest of the Tuscan family who were serving an exile in this area. The castle is an imposing structure, with watchtowers, sturdy defensive walls and a large park surrounding it. It comprises a main hall of 250 sq m, a smaller hall of 100 sq m, an audiovisual workshop, a basement and other spaces. Recently restored, it is used as a cultural venue, open to residents' activities.

Good to know

  • The castle was also known as the “Tomba degli Agolanti”, where “tomba” referred to a fortified farmhouse. In fact it was a luxury residence, used for holidays or for formal gatherings.
  • The Agolanti family were vassals of the Malatesta, the Lords of Rimini.
  • During the Second World War it became the home of a German general.
