Pieve di San Giovanni in Compito

The Pieve di San Giovanni in Compito stands just outside the built-up area of Savignano sul Rubicone (2.5 km away). Records of the building's existence date back to the 7th century, when it was a pagan sanctuary where the cult of San Giovanni and the compital deities was practised. It is not easy to say how much of that ancient building has survived to the present day; today it retains a hut-shaped profile, an original mullioned window above the portal, and the portal's lintel, decorated with a braid motif, dating from the 7th century.

Good to know

  • The site was dedicated to San Giovanni because the building contained a baptistery.

Accessibility statement

Romagna.net should be usable by anyone, with any tool: keyboard, screen reader, magnification, phone. This page says where we actually stand, without rounding up.

Conformance status

The site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. Conformance is partial: the checks made so far cover the code and the colours, and they do not replace testing with people who rely on assistive technology. Known limits are listed below.

How this statement was prepared

Self-assessment by the people who build the site, last updated on 1 September 2026. This is not the statement that the Italian AgID guidelines require of public bodies, which Romagna.net is not: it is a commitment we make anyway.
