It is a protected area of around 54,000 hectares, with wetland habitats of major international naturalistic interest and thousands of plant and animal species.

The Centro Visite Saline di Cervia is part of the Parco Regionale del Delta del Po, a protected area of around 54,000 hectares spanning the provinces of Ravenna and Ferrara. It is a unique place, protecting wetland areas and habitats of major international naturalistic interest, home to thousands of plant and animal species, some of them rare, which find their ideal environment here.
Every year the Centro Visite organises the Primavera Slow event, promoting tourism and sports activities in the park in close contact with nature and with a focus on environmental sustainability: visitors can go on canoe trips, boat trips, walks or bike rides.

Good to know

  • Besides the protected areas, the park is also home to well-known historic monuments: the Abbazia di Pomposa, the Basilica di Sant'Apollinare in Classe, the Pieve di San Giorgio (in the province of Ferrara), the town of Comacchio, and the house where Anita and Giuseppe Garibaldi stayed in 1849.
  • One of the most popular activities is birdwatching.
