Piazza della Libertà is, together with Piazza del Popolo, the heart of life in Faenza. The Cattedrale di San Pietro Apostolo overlooks the square, just steps from the Baroque Fontana Monumentale. On the corner, at the junction with Corso Aurelio Saffi, stands the Torre Civica, destroyed by the Germans in December 1944 and later rebuilt almost identical to the original. Opposite the cathedral, visitors can admire a 17th-century loggia known as the goldsmiths’ loggia and numerous Art Nouveau buildings.
