Basilica di San Rufillo

The Basilica di San Rufillo takes its name from the town's patron saint, first bishop of Forlimpopoli in the 4th century AD. Set apart from the historic centre, the church has a colonnaded entrance and Neoclassical interiors; particularly admired are the marble episcopal throne, the 18th-century  wooden choir stalls and the great altarpiece by Luca Longhi, a well-known 16th-century painter from Ravenna. The central nave, meanwhile, is decorated with two roundels depicting Rufillo.

Good to know

  • Beneath the church's presbytery are finds from excavations carried out in the 1960s, which tell the story of the building (from the 6th to the 9th century).

Conformance status

The site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. Conformance is partial: the checks made so far cover the code and the colours, and they do not replace testing with people who rely on assistive technology. Known limits are listed below.

How this statement was prepared

Self-assessment by the people who build the site, last updated on 1 September 2026. This is not the statement that the Italian AgID guidelines require of public bodies, which Romagna.net is not: it is a commitment we make anyway.
