Borgo Maioletto, in the town of Maiolo, is a small cluster of houses, a church and the Rocca di Maioletto archaeological site. It lies halfway between the mouth of the River Marecchia and its source, at 590 m above sea level, with views over San Marino, San Leo and Monte Fumaiolo. There are not many monuments to visit, but the surrounding countryside is a strong draw, especially for walkers and cyclists. Distinctive here are the farmhouses that carry on the age-old tradition of bread-making, with local methods and flours.

Good to know

  • Borgo Maioletto was almost destroyed by a landslide in 1700. This destruction is linked to a legend of a flood said to have fallen as divine punishment for pagan rites once held in the village.

How this statement was prepared

Self-assessment by the people who build the site, last updated on 1 September 2026. This is not the statement that the Italian AgID guidelines require of public bodies, which Romagna.net is not: it is a commitment we make anyway.
