Built in 1457 to defend Ravenna, Rocca Brancaleone is a fortress ringed by an imposing wall, punctuated at each corner by four round towers.
Built in 1457 to defend Ravenna, Rocca Brancaleone is a fortress ringed by an imposing wall, punctuated at each corner by four round towers.
Inside the quadrangle were the service rooms and garrison quarters, along with weapon and food stores; outside was a moat that no longer exists. Today Rocca Brancaleone is a public park, a 17,000 sq m garden created in the 1970s, with sandstone paths, a skating rink, play areas, a bar and toilets.
