Viale Ceccarini

Riccione's grand avenue is the street of shopping, luxury and fashionable venues, linking the town centre to the seafront and the beach of the Green Pearl of the Adriatic.

Viale Ceccarini links the town to the sea, though everyone knows it as the shopping street of Riccione. The grand avenue, which dates back to the nineteenth century, was the driving force behind the town's tourist growth: this is where the town's first Art Nouveau villas sprang up, the summer residences of the Italian bourgeoisie, along with the bars and restaurants that in the 1950s made it a symbol of the sweet summer life. Today it is the town centre, opening onto the sea at one end (Piazzale Roma) and towards the town at the other (Ospedale Ceccarini), a must for shopping lovers, who, along the stretch between the sea and the railway, can find shops selling the most prestigious made-in-Italy brands.

Good to know

  • Viale Ceccarini is around 1 km long; the shopping street runs along the last 200 m towards the sea.
  • Viale Ceccarini's original name was Viola.
  • At Christmas, Viale Ceccarini turns into a spectacular Santa's village.
