Santuario del Monticino

The Santuario del Monticino stands on the third hill of Brisighella. The building is renowned for a sacred image dating from 1626, once set on a column at the entrance to the town. The sanctuary was embellished over time: first the rich marble interiors, stuccoes and Ionic capitals, and later the grand façade. A destination for pilgrims devoted to the sacred image, behind the sanctuary lies a quarry once used for extracting gypsum, which today is home to Brisighella's open-air Museo Geologico.
