Fondazione Tito Balestra
The Fondazione Tito Balestra (named after the well-known poet from Longiano) was set up in 1986 following a donation of 2,000 sculptures, prints and oil paintings. Over time, this initial core was added to by further donations (totalling 900 pieces) from friends and acquaintances of Tito Balestra. The collection is spread across 5 floors and is devoted to contemporary works; it also houses a library and the Cido (Centro Italiano di Didattica Operativa), which organises experimental workshops exploring new forms of expression.
Good to know
- It was Balestra's wife who made the first donation, following her husband's untimely death.
- Works by Guttuso, Morandi, Sironi, De Pisis and Guerra are among those on display.
- The Fondazione Tito Balestra is housed within the Castello Malatestiano.
