Museo Internazionale delle ceramiche

From ancient ceramics to 20th-century pieces, a large collection with works from Pre-Columbian America, the Far East and 17th-century Italian workshops.

The Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche in Faenza (MIC) has been declared a UNESCO “Monument bearing witness to a culture of peace”. The MIC brings together many collections, divided into two main sections: one devoted to ancient ceramics and the other focused solely on the 20th century. The collections include works from Pre-Columbian America, the Far East, 17th-century Italian workshops, the Faenza Renaissance, popular and devotional ceramics, and bioceramics.

Good to know

  • The ancient ceramics section is housed in the former conventual quadrangle; the 20th-century section is in the new modern wing.
  • The MIC also has a well-stocked bookshop and a shop selling designer ceramics by contemporary artists.
