Romagna.net

Romagna is part of the regional network of Musei del Gusto of Emilia-Romagna, a circuit of more than twenty-five stops each dedicated to a typical product, from the Piacenza area to the Rimini area. Here we tell the story of Romagna's stops, where food tradition intertwines with the history of the land.

Casa Artusi, the home of home cooking

In Forlimpopoli, Casa Artusi is the first centre of gastronomic culture dedicated to Italian home cooking, opened in 2007 in a former convent next to the Chiesa dei Servi. The museum is dedicated to Pellegrino Artusi, born in Forlimpopoli in 1820, author of "La scienza in cucina e l'arte di mangiar bene" ("Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well"), a collection of 790 recipes that in 1891 codified Italian home cooking for the first time. Today the building houses:

  • The gastronomic library with the Artusi collection
  • A reconstruction of the writer's study
  • A cooking school
  • A restaurant serving traditional dishes

MUSA, the Salt Museum of Cervia

In Cervia, the MUSA tells the centuries-old bond between the town and its salt production. The museum is housed in the historic Torre del Sale, once a warehouse, and was founded in the 1980s on the initiative of former salt-worker Agostino Finchi. At the heart of the story is the Salina Camillone, the only one of Cervia's salt pans still worked with traditional artisan methods, where in summer visitors can watch the harvest of the famous "sweet salt" live.

The open-air Olive Oil Museum of Brisighella

In Brisighella, in the production area of the DOP extra virgin olive oil, the museum has no building but unfolds as an open-air route through the hills: seven stops marked by information panels cross centuries-old olive groves with around ninety thousand trees, including some ultra-centenary "patriarch" specimens.

Coming soon to Bertinoro

In Bertinoro a new Museo del Gusto dedicated to Sangiovese di Romagna is being set up, which will occupy the restored Cantina del Vescovo in the former Seminario, the historic seat of the Riserva dei Sangiovesi di Romagna: restoration work on the spaces was completed in March 2026, while the fit-out and public opening are still underway.
